In 2013, Hasbro has announced that they have come up with new enviromental sustainability goals which they hope the achieve by the end of 2020. They announce that because of the many toys that they make and the amount of resources it takes them, there is plenty of energy being used and lots of leftover waste when everything is finished.
Hasbro's 2020 goals include
Reducing waste to landfill: By end of 2020, they plan to reduce waste to landfill at facilities by 50 % from 2012 levels. This goal builds from Hasbro's 2008 commitment to reduce non-hazardous waste by 15% by 2012, which it surpassed, achieving a 40% reduction.
Reducing energy consumption: By end of 2020, they intend to reduce energy consumption at their facilities by 25 % from how it was in 2012.
Reducing GHG emissions: By end of 2020, they plan to reduce global Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas given off from facilities by 20% from 2012 levels. In 2008, Hasbro set a 10% global GHG emissions reduction goal to be achieved by 2012. The company exceeded its goal and achieved a 32 % GHG reduction over 2008.
Reducing water consumption: By end of 2020, they plan to reduce water consumption from facilities by 15% from 2012 levels. Hasbro achieved a 31% water consumption reduction, beating its initial goal to reduce water use by 15 percent through 2012 compared to 2008.
